Hello.

I have had my Zen Ray ED2 8x43 binoculars for exactly 2 years now.  The other day I noticed a sandy like substance in my left eye-piece.  After a period of hibernation, I noticed the left eye-piece would no longer recede.  The reason I found this out was because as I went to twist the eye-piece the cover became 'detached' from the binoculars.  Now, when I go to turn the eye-piece the cover just spins.....

I don't wear sunglasses too often while birding, so this inconvenience isn't critical.  AND, a delay in 'binocular time' is not ideal at this point as I have a trip to Big Sur coming up in 2 weeks....  However, I think I need to get this repaired for one big reason;

I'm considering purchasing a spotting scope and I like the performance of my binoculars aside from the recent troubles as I have taken them in conditions most would not even consider.....  I am looking at the Zen-Ray product along with the Vortex Razor (which is a terrific scope) so I am curious as to the warranty situation with Zen-Ray (as I know the Vortex warranty is top notch).  More importantly, the speed and turn around on repairing products is important to me.

So, my questions to all of you (whose advice I took when purchasing the binoculars) are this;

What experiences have you had with the Zen-Ray warranty process?  What is the typical turn around time on fixing issues (I understand it will vary based on the problem)?  After the warranty experience were you more or less confident to purchase from them again?

As an additional question, if anyone is still reading, how has the Zen-Ray scope compared to the Vortex Razor over longer periods of time?

Thanks for any and all responses!

Welcome to the OT.

Zen Ray will take care of you, give them a call.

Turn around time is very short with Zen Ray.

I have not seen the Zen Ray spotter in person, but hear it is the equivalent in performance to the Razor.
