In an earlier Post I had asked for opinions on best choise between the Zeiss "Conquest" and various Leupold models. Since then, I've heard a lot of good things about the Bushnell 4200 and am wondering on how the 4200 stacks up against the Conquest...overall. These may be stupid questions, but I sure don't want to make a bad ($$$) choice. Savage Model 10, .22-250, way-out-there 'chuck hunting, end of the day light conditions...

No such thing as stupid as questions when you are going to invest $500 or so for a scope. From the previous post, it appears that most people would opt. for the Zeiss over the Elite. I really like the Elites myself, but, I could not think of a valid argument to go against a Zeiss from a optic quality standpoint. The Elite 4200 has features that others don't have so you have to decide whether you will benefit from them in your hunting/shooting application.

I prefer the Conquest. But, if you want to save a few bucks, the Elite is a great choice.

For me Elite 4200 has a bit too short of an eye relief for a rifle with any sort of kick with it.
However, for a 22-250 that makes no difference whatsoever. I was recently going through an exercise of trying to pick a scope for my Savage 12FV in 22-250 and ended up going with the Elite 4200. Is Zeiss better? Perhaps. IS it sufficiently better to justify the price difference? not to me, but this is a very personal choice.
