I have been comparing Zeiss Conquest 10x30 and Nikon Monarch 10x50, and they both seem to be pretty clear. I was wondering if the Zeiss would be as bright as the Nikons in lower light, with the smaller lenses. Also anybody look through Zeiss Diafuns? How would they compare to the other two mentioned. Need advise.... What would you buy?

The 10x30 Zeiss though sharper than the Nikons are nowhere near as bright. The 30 mm Conquests are considered "daytime" binoculars by Zeiss because of their fairly small objective diameters. The 8x30s work fairly well even in dusk but the 10x30s, with their smaller exit pupil, will be noticeably dimmer.

I have no experience with the Diafuns. Sorry.

The Nikon Monarch is no slouch and has a 5mm exit pupil. The Zeiss, though very good also, only has a 3mm exit pupil. The Monarch wins the low light battle here.
Ditto on Diafuns, never heard of them.

After going back to the store where I looked at these I realized I was looking at 10x42 nikons and 10x40 Conquests. I have now found I can buy 12x42 Monarchs for $269 or 10x40 Conquest abk for $619. Both would be a pretty good deal. What would you do?
