Okay Chris or Brady, I just traded you guys my Pentax Ligfhtseeker 2.5-10x50 with the twilight plex reticle for a Zeiss 3-9x42 VM/V off the sample list.  I was kind of let down that you guys didn't have any of the new Kahles CL scopes in stock so I opted for the Zeiss.  How do you think the "V" rates as far as the king of the 1 inch scopes (optically)?

I'm probably going to install it on a .30/06 Titanium Remington for my mountain gun.  I haven't personally been able to view the Swarovski A-Line, Kahles CL or the 1 inch Zeiss VM/V in a side by side comparison but from some of the earlier posts I've read, the Zeiss is still probably the best (optically).  What do you or any of the other guys here reading this forum think?

Well, I wouldn't have any buyers remorse for having a Zeiss scope on my rifle, that's for sure.

The scope in question is as good as most any hunting scope in the world. It's a 1" tube? So what?

The only thing a 30mm tube will really give you is elevation. How much up do you really need with that 30/06?

Moot point, at best.

King of the 1" tubes? I don't know, maybe. The Swaro A line is anougher contender, and a great scope in it's self. I'd probably take the Zeiss.

IMHO...You have as good a hunting scope as their is to be had, my friend.

Light weight, optically superior, great scope makers warranty.

Congrats!! ROCK ON!!!

I have the 1" zeiss V 3-9x42 and its an awesome scope. Even if the swaro were as good optically it lacks an etched reticle, it uses wire (cheaper), and it lacks a lifetime TRANSFERABLE warranty. I almost bought that Zeiss of the sample list but found a brand new one for not much more. It would be hard for me to believe that any scope will beat a zeiss V in optics, comparable yes, but "beat"-- I am not so sure.

It's hard to choose which is the best when all three have been argued to be the best. Either of the three will be the right choice. The VM/V is an excellent scope for sure. There was a CL on the samplelist for a few weeks. It was somewhat hidden in the list 3-9 American hunter's. Probably why it was there for as long as it was.

Well I guess all this is on hold for right now.  I sent my Pentax in to swfa and was later recontacted and advised that the internal coating (s) were faulty!  No wonder I never cared for the thing!  I will send it back to Pentax for repair, re-evaluate the properly coated optics and then go from there!
