I'm looking for a somewhat compact 5ish-15ish variable power scope with exposed target knobs.

So far the closest I have found to what I want is the Zeiss 4.5-14x44 Conquest http://www.riflescopes.com/products/521 4559943/zeiss_4.5-14x44_conquest_rifle_scope.htm

I've never handled a Zeiss, can anyone comment on the repeatability and "feel" of the adjustments?  I have a Nightforce NXS and a Leuplod LR/T M1, both of which are solid and repeatable, is the Zeiss going to be in the same ballpark and as rugged?

Any other suggestions for a scope with target turrets in this magification range that doesn't have a gigantic 50mm objective?

I like the Conquest.

But, I like the Nikon Tactical a little better. It is a 50mm objective though.

I like this setup a little more than the Conquest, and the Nikon has a 30mm tube, but both scopes offer horrible elevation adjustments, for the price.

Not to fear, just get a 20 moa rail and either scope will work for you.

What reticle?

I'll probably get a mil-dot reticle just for resale value (though I never seem to sell scopes... or guns for that matter ).    This is for an AR15 so I'll probably be using a Larue one piece mount with some elevation built in.
