I am getting ready to purchase a Zeiss Diavari 2.5x10 x50. What reticle would you choose for  hunting? I like reticle 4 or 8 but can't make up my mind! Also: Would you get a Illumiated reticle?  Thanks!

I use the #8 reticle in my Diavari scope.  I like have the 4 heavy crosshair bases.  For hunting in dark timber.

I've got the #8 in my 2.5-10x42.  I like it OK, but the subtensions are kind of "strange" to me.  I find it difficult to range with.  I've not spent the time to develop a range card for it, so I'm currently limited to point blank range unless I have a bit of time to "cyper".  If you have a fairly well known range between 0-250, it is very good, though.

I have the lit #8 in my 2.5-10X50.  I like it really well.  It seems to me that the outer posts are the same or about the same thickness as the #4.  Either would be a good hunting reticle, but if you like a bit less obstructed view, get the #4, as it eliminates the thick post at 12:00.
