I was looking at the zeiss rapid z scopes for a 270 wsm I will be shooting 140gr accubonds. I was wondering how accurate the holdovers really are. I know that no holdover is as accurate as dialing it in, but I think in quick hunting situations, it would be nice. Has anyone played with one, or even looked through one? I am sure it is similar to the boon and crockett of leupold. I I am trying to get a scope set up for long range hunting for antelope in wyoming, and whitetails in beanfields here in Mo.  I often look in the edges of woods at lowlight, and was wondering if the reticle would disappear on me. If anyone has any experience with them let me know.      Thanks Bill Bell

It's just a generic ballistic/ranging reticle similar in function to all the ballistic reticles that are designed to match up to certain loads at even hundred yd. intervals. I have 1 of the PFI reticles in a 3-9X model on my AR-15, and love it for long-range coyotes. Whether it's gonna "line up perfectly with your load" is a crapshoot really since there are too many variables to know without trying/playing with it. Chances are any of these reticles will work out to mid-range since the vital zone of a big game animal allows for a lot of fudge room to play with, if the exact range to the game is known. There are ways to adapt ballistic/ranging reticles for any trajectory really for a much more precise system of reference, but that takes some study time. Here are some places to begin--
