Hi all,

This is my first post.

I have an old Mauser 98 from my grandfather and it has a Zeiss/Jenna Zielver scope (no. 57101).  All of the markings are worn off the elevation adjustment and I don't see a windage adjustment.

Does anyone know anything about this scope?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Joe

There is no vindage adjustment in the scope, its in the base or rings.

It's a good scope, made before 1945 and have more a collectors/historical value than users value.

But with that said, I still prefers an old Zeiss to a new Leupold.

And if the comparision is done, the FOV on a variable Zeiss from 1922 and a Leupold from today the FOV is about the same.............

While a new Zeiss have betwen 50-100% FOV over a Leupold.

But most likely is the scope fogged and need some cleaning.

WHat kind of mauser is it? what caliber and model?

Regards Technika

Thanks for the info.

Actually the scope is not fogged at all - up until he died a couple of years ago, my grandfather used it for hunting.

It is mounted on a Model 98, 8mm Mauser.

There is an adjustment knob on the top of the scope which I assume is for elevation but I can't figure out how it works....  The only part that I can turn seems to just provide focus rather than elevation adjustment.....

Thanks again.
