I was telling a family member yesterday that I had just picked up a Mark V in .243 and was looking for a scope.  He said he had one he would give me.  Turned out to be a Zeiss Diavari 3-9x36 T* he had purchased in 1993.  Still had the box, etc.  Never really used.  I know a little of the history on these scopes and have read some older posts.  First time I've put a seventeen year old scope on a new rifle!  What do you think? Any reason not to enjoy it?

No reason not to. I plan on my scopes being used that long.

Welcome to the OT!

I don't think you will get much enjoyment out of that scope.
I, on the other hand, could find a use for it.  I'll pay for shipping.
Wink

That is one great stroke of luck you had there!
Congrats.

Thanks to all for welcoming me to OT.  About this Zeiss Diavari C, I can tell already the short tube is going to limit my mounting on the Mark V with the Leupold 2 piece base I have.  Don't want to have to push the cheek too far up the stock.  Anyone have experience with off set rings like the Milletts? or should I go with a rail?
