If Ed thinks that scope is worth a grand, make him a deal for $750 and you'll be 2-3 hundred ahead of what I typically see them sell for.

You'll have to send me the address of where they are being sold for $500, Roy.......(  except I still don't have $500...)

Ten or twelve years ago I saw a brand new ( old stock ) 3X9 X 36 ---West German--in a gun store for $640....but the price tag was years old.  They also had a brand new T* 4X for $460.....

..........but not anymore......

I sold an MC 3-9x36 on *bay for $580.00 last year. The T coating should bring an extra $150-200. If the scope is in like new condition with box and paper work it could bring $1000.00 from the right buyer, but is more likely a $700-750 piece.

I did a quick search at 24HCF and found two that never sold. One guy is a pawn shop dealer and was asking $599,  the other was listed at $550 and dropped down and never sold either. Both were listed as in new condition with no ring marks.

Yes, the German made with the T coating is a dandy scope. When I Googled 3-9x36 Zeiss T, I came up with these old threads here http://www.opticstalk.com/zeiss-diavaric_topic1917.html
http://www.opticstalk.com/zeiss-3-x-9-diavari-c_topic11574.html
A friend had one on a .257 Wby and I didn't even bother with a spotting scope on the 200 yard range.
Digressing, a little earlier than 1996 Zeiss also made a similar T coated 1" scope in 4X. It is a hard find and one of the best 4X scopes I have ever looked through. That same friend had one on a .378 Wby and it was likewise excellent. The eye relief was no problem on that heavy kicking MarkV. I enjoyed the combo.
