I can get a Zeiss conquest 3x12  56 with 30 mm tube with #8 reticle for approx 700 dollars.  It will sit atop a browning Abolt 7 mag that deer hunts open fields where light gathering is important.  For the same or close to the same money, is there a better scope at this price point?

I HUNTED LAST SEASON FOR WHITETAILS WITH THIS SCOPE.DONT GET ME WRONG,IT IS A GOOD SCOPE AND IT DOES FAIR FOR LIGHT GATHERING.IT IS NOT A GREAT SCOPE.I AM PRETTY SURE IT IS ASSEMBLED IN HUNGARY AND IT IS DEFINATELY THE LOWEST ON THE ZEISS TOTEM POLE.IT IS NOWHERE NEAR A DIAVARI.GREAT SCOPES COST MORE BUT IF YOU WANT REAL LIGHT GATHERING QUALITIES LOOK FOR A GOOD DEAL IN A USED ZEISS VICTORY,SCHMIDT AND BENDER,OR SWAROVSKI IN A 50 OR 56MM OBJECTIVE.MY DEALER SOMETIMES SELLS HIGH QUALITY USED EUROPEANS FOR $700-$1000.IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH I SEE NIKON MONARCH GOLDS WITH 56MM OBJECTIVES AND 30MM TUBES GOING FOR $500-$600 AND TO ME ARE VERY CLOSE TO THE CONQUEST AND YOU CAN GET THEM IN A GERMAN #4 RETICLE WHICH I CAN SEE BETTER THAN A CONQUEST IN A #8.RETICLE CHOICE IS VERY IMPORTANT IN LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS.

In the price range it is hard to beat the Conquest. I would either get the Conquest or save a few dollars and get an Elite 4200 or Monarch

That conquest is a good scope and $700 isn't a bad price either.

Yea there is .
I would buy this one over the Zeiss . Last "demo B " scope I bought off the sample list was a new unused scope .  These have been discontionued.

Haven't you ever heard the term hunter / gatherer? Currently, I'm gathering my thoughts. LMAO.
