I was shopping for a scope for my precision AR15 build to be used for High Power Any/Any and hunting predators and hogs when I came across the Zeiss manufacture's rebate of $200 for Conquest DL scopes. I found a DL 1.2X5X36 illuminated on sale for $730. With $200s off bring the cost of the scope down to $530 which was very hard to resist. Zeiss's  second plane highly adjustable intensity level center dot, one of the best I have seen,  combined with a 36MM objective and a power range from 1.2 to 5 appears to be the best available option for close in hunting in low light. The problem I have with the scope is that Zeiss does not offer the DL 1.2X5X36 with optional target turrets. They have optional target turrets for their DL 2X8X42 and their DL  3x12X50 but not for the 1.2X5X36? I find this conceptually difficult to understand. The primary purpose of a 30mm tube is to allow for greater range of adjustment. So the question begs to be asked why would Zeiss manufacture a scope with 30mm tube that did not have optional target turrets? What is more difficult to understand is that in this world of modern computer ballistic programs, that I am going to have to resort to holdover when shooting coyotes at 300 yards when I am in possession such a fine German manufactured and engineered telescopic instrument in which I could dial in a shooting solution with a range elevation knob?
I sent Zeiss an inquiry as to the availability of a target turret for the DL 1.2X5X36 but would like to know if anybody has had any success at adding an elevation target turrets to the DL1.2X5X36.

If uoy are not in a big hurry I would wait a little for the 1-4 SS priced at $399 It is out of stock at this time but more should be arriving in the next couple of months. It is designed for the AR platform. If you order before the arrival date it will include the SS SALT AR mount.

Nice, but would prefer a less cluttered view such as the Leupold's Fire Dot SPR. I will be using the scope on variety of uppers with a variety of loads so having a graduated reticle is of little value.

About that Zeiss Conquest DL 1.2-5X36 -30mm w ithe illumiating #60 reticle with $200 Rebate.

I went ahead and ordered a Zeiss Conquest  DL 1.2-5X36 to take advantage of a $200 Zeiss rebate offer. The offer stated to see Zeiss rebate for the rebate details at Zeissrebate.com. When I looked on the Zeiss web site all I could find online was the $200 rebate offer is for Zeiss Conquest DL scopes and no specific details as to the rebate. It was not until after taking delivery of the scope and I went to apply for the rebate, a telephone call to Zeiss  and after completing the rebate online process was I able to find specifics of the rebate. https://zeiss.rebateaccess.com/ The details of the rebate are not apparent until you actually apply for and complete the rebate application online. It was then I discovered that the rebate offer  for Zeiss Conquest DL rifle scopes applies only to specific UPC codes.  The rebates for the  Conquest DL 1.2-5X36 applied to scopes with a UPC code  of 740035996731. The UPC code of the scope I was shipped was 740035002593. At this point the rebate offer clearly states that the rebate only applies for the following specific UPC codes.

Zeiss Conquest DL Rebate

Models                                                              UPC

1.2-5x36 - 30mm w/Illuminated Reticle 60           740035996731

2-8x42 - 30mm w/Illuminated Reticle 60              740035996762

3-12x50 - 30mm w/Illuminated Reticle 60                        740035996809

I took a long look at the Zeiss Conquest 1.2-5X36 -30 mm/Illuminated Reticle 60 and asked myself if the scope was worth $730 verse the $530 I was led to believe I would pay for the scope. I picked up the scope and I noticed the compact solid heft of the 18 ounces and its 30mm tube, the scope felt very solidly built. The focus was firm but very smooth with more than enough diopter adjustment for my tired old eyes. The power adjustment was equally firm and smooth.  The elevation turret was firm and felt very precise with audible clicks. I took the scope outside in my suburban backyard at night and I could discern no loss of light at any of the power settings. The reticle was crisp and clear in the light polluted night. I could see the cross hairs without the illumination. The illuminated dot was micro adjustable both in size and intensity to a smaller and smaller nearly invisible sharp pin point, really, really nice. At this point I had to work really hard to convince myself not to forgive Zeiss’s aggressive marketing bait and switch ploy and pay the $730. I really wanted to mount this incredible nice scope and take it to the range to see if it would perform as well it looked, but alas back in the box it went and to the online retailer it goes. The precision AR15 SPR build the scope was going on is already over budget and weight with the Wilson Combat match barrel and the Geissele SSA-E trigger and 18 ounces and $730 is outside the limit.

In any event if you are contemplating taking advantage of the  Zeiss rebate offer I would suggest that you contact the retailer to insure that the scope they are selling and shipping you has a UPC code which qualifies for the rebate.
