Well I believe I have selected my next scope.  I am choosing this zeiss conquest 3x9x40 over

Bushnell 4200 4-16x40
Nikon Monarch BDC 4-16x42

It will probably being the only zeiss i buy for some time due to money.  i would lean towards the bushnell 4200 but this rifle will not see any rain/weather probably while hunting.

Is this a smart choice or are the zeiss's really nicer than the Bushnell's and Monarch of this price range.  I hope I am just buying more than just a name with its performance.

thats a good choice, its a pretty close call between all three of those, but i really think that in those last light moments the zeiss is better.

I would be happy with the Zeiss.  But I have never hunted with one in the rain.  I hunted in the rain this year with the Bushnell 4200 and I was glad I had it.  I have the Monarch 4-16 and it is a nice scope as well.  But I would prefer a Zeiss or Bushnell over it.  Just my 2 sheckels.

I really like my Zeiss Conquest.  I have only had it for three months and have not hunted with it but the optics are are clear and good enough for me, plus the reticle is easy to see.

There's not much difference between those 3. It will come down to price and availability.

txhunter----I am going through the SAME dilemma on the same scopes!!! Only difference is I HAVE one Conquest 3-9X40 that I just put on my .270 Browning BAR. I have a 30-06 Mossberg that I need a scope for and was wanting a little more than a 3-9; thus the reason for looking at the 4-16 . The Nikons look REALLY good to me, but most on here will say go with the Bushnell 4200 b/c of the rainguard...which is of interest to me. I'm gonna have to go to a retailer to look at them again side by side and then of course come home and order the one I like the best from SWFA!!!  I LOVE my Conquest on my Browing! I went with MED Talley rings and still had to take my front sight off!! I might go ahead an go with HIGH Talleys on this Mossberg. Anybody have any advice on the scopes---Bboy623
