Like so many that come here, I have been agonizing over a scope.  I finally found a used but very clean Zeiss Classic Diavari 2.5-10x50 for $950.  I think this is a great deal on a great scope even though it has been discontinued.

Can anyone tell me if I can have a different reticle installed?  I also would like to know if I can put different turrets on it.  Any help is appreciated.

Forgot to mention it is also designated T*.  Does this have any special meaning?

I was not aware that the model you are asking about is going to be discontinued. Perhaps the one you are looking at is a non-Lotu Tec model.

Lots of different reticles available and I believe there are some turret options as well

The T designation just means that it has the best multi-coatings that Zeiss offers. The most recent Diavari's have Lotu-Tec coatings as well which is the Zeiss equivalent of Rainguard.

I could be wrong about it being discontinued.  Did a google search and possibly one of the sites I went to meant they were discontinuing it.  Also, I couldn't find where SWFA had it listed so I assumed it was discontinued.

Thanks for the info.  I'm really looking forward to getting the scope.  I'm almost 50 and this is the first scope of this quality I've ever purchased.  I intend to do some low light hunting with it and it seems this should be great for that.

Actually, I stand corrected. The "Classic" series I believe is discontinued at least in this country. I was confusing it with the standard Diavari series. The scope you are looking at is, in my opinion the best low light scope made. There might, and I mean might, be something out there that could be better, but I'll bet real money that it will be much heavier and much more expensive. Treat yourself. You won't be disappointed. By the way, welcome to OpticsTalk.

Thanks Roy.  You're right, I've been digging a little deeper on the internet and I also had it confused with the standard Diavari.  This one will not have the Lotu-Tec coatings so I guess I better wipe it down after I take it swimming! haha

The couple "Classics" I found that had a price tag in dollars instead of pounds were much less than the standard Diavari I had it confused with, but I already agreed to the deal and it's still worth the money.  Plus, I think it's just about the perfect scope for what I intend to use it for.  Picking it up this weekend.

I'll be mounting it on a 6.5 Grendel I just built on the AR-15 platform.  It should be hog killing machine!

Don't know if this will help or not since you may have a different scope, but I have a 2.5x10x50 Diavari V/VM T* and had an elevation turret installed on it by Zeiss

Some pics

before turret

after turret

Supposedly now I can send off for a custom turret like a Kenton and it will replace the Zeiss turret without a problem.

BTW, Zeiss said they could not replace the reticle, a RapidZ 800 would have been my first choice.

As far as is the scope worth $1,000.00.  Mine would be and the T* means it has superior glass and coatings, so probably.

Man, thats too bad.  I really wanted to put another reticle on this thing.  According to the Zeiss website the Classic is a FFP scope so it would be great to have some type of BDC reticle or even a mil dot.

Nice elevation turret too by the way.  That's exactly what I would like to have along with a BDC reticle of some sort.
