I was in a mom and pop gun shop yesterday, checking out some scopes I have heard about. I looked at the Zeiss shelf, and there it was!!

I had to look through it. The scope overall was very light weight, for being a "tactical" scope with a 56mm objective. Unbelievably light with a one piece 30mm tube.

Turrets were just the right height, and the clicks were audible and tight.

This model had a mildot reticle, placed strangely in the RFP.

The side focus was pretty standard.

The clarity of the glass was, as usual for Zeiss, outstanding!! Edge to edge perfection!

I normally don't like 56mm/RFP scopes, especially when mildots come into play, but this scope was magnificent. And as I stated before, very light weight for a 56mm scope.

Well, just thought I'd comment on another great Zeiss offering.....

Ive never seen one in person. So forgive the stupid question but how was the mil dot placed strangely? Wasn't it in the center of the objective?

I should have clarified that better.

The scope was the rear focal plane variety, allowing one to only range at one power setting. Probably 24x?

I assumed that  Zeiss would put the reticle in the front, allowing a guy to range at any and every power setting equally. Makes for a better "tactical" or "sniper" scope IMO.

A magnificent piece of glass, none the less.
