I've got a 300 wsm bolt action that I have equipped with a Zeiss 4.5x14-44mm Conquest. I am wondering what exactly the side focus is for? Is it supposed to be a parallax adjustment? A vague bullet drop compensator  or what exactly? I was under the impression that it is just a FOCUS for yardage, but I have been told now that the numbers on the side are for compensation, since they go from 30 yds to 800 yds and infinite. Also one more question! IF I sight this scope in at +1'' 100 yards on 14 power, is it still going to be the same when I turn the power back down? I have also been told that changing the power also changes where the bullet is sighted in. Thanks guys

It's for Parallax Adjustment

What reticle is in the scope? The only way bullet impact should change when changing the magnification would be if you are using a Ballistic compensating reticle, (Rapid-Z) and using one of the calibrated bars for drop. Impact point should not be affected on the main crosshair, or in a plex reticle. And yes the left side knob is for focus/ parallax adjustment.

If that scope has a "Second Focal Plane" reticle, which I think it does, then changing the mag won't change impact on the "center" cross hair.   Hope that answers your question.
