What do you guys think about putting this scope on a big heavy 300WinMag?  Not sure of the make, some type of Mauser.  I think you should be able to see an Elk at 300 yds on 5.5 don't you?

Will it be able to take recoil of a 300WM?   It has 4" of eye relief, which will be nice on a big kicker!

At 5.5x it would look like it is about 60 yards away.  That is not to bad at all.

If it doesn't take the recoil my 4.5-14 is in real trouble. It's on a 7lb .300 wby.

My Conquest 4X32 takes the punishing blows of my Ruger #1 in 45-70 quite nicely  Tank

That was going to be my choice for  the 300win mag I bought but found a new Conquest 3-9 Z 600 for under $500 and could not pass it up. The 1.5-8X38 will be a good size match to hunt with.
Happy Hunting.

.........................Love the magnification and the glass, but don`t care for its size and weight for such a low powered variable! With a sling and that particular Zeiss (18 oz)on that rifle, you`ll probably be very close to or at the 11 lb mark. If you don`t mind lugging around that kinda weight, then go for it!

Elk at 300 yards set on 5.5x? Piece a cake!!!
