If you love Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, (I've always hated that slimy King Ghidora), GODZILLA...KING OF THE MONSTERS is a great movie to see.  Yes, it's a giant monster movie... stomping down cities, blowing things up, creating havoc... it's what monsters do.  Godzilla and I could be good friends...

I saw this movie, many years ago.  Had mostly forgotten about it.  Brings back many memories... one of five movies I saw with my father... it had been "out" for a while when I saw it.

Yes....a real powerful movie. I guess I saw it twenty-five years ago on TCM....Kubrick was 29 years old when he made it. He and Kirk Douglas had many fights while filming. But since Kirk Douglas OWNED the production and had gotten financing because of his fame they did it HIS way.....

....it wasn't a blockbuster....I guess it just broke even....but the acclaim was a big boost to Stanley Kubrick....

This movie was re-released in 1964. I saw the previews of it. The preview I saw was different than this one. I never did get to see it on the big screen however.

Kirk Douglas produced the picture. He didn't take a salary.....he made a deal to take 60% of the box office!

Just hard to imagine Sean Connery as a cowboy.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon both carried the fruit loop label after those cross-dressing movies...
