The Grand Lake theatre in Oakland did vaudeville and silent movie showings when it opened in 1926, and famously temporarily closed its doors in November 2011 in support for Occupy Wall Street

I've seen all these movies.  Trader Horn was an extremely famous old movie.  I had heard about it when was I was a kid in elementary school.  First big ON LOCATION movie in some remote place...

I have two copies of the book TRADER HORN from the old days but they are not First Editions.

Harry Carey ( from the old Silent Movie days ) was a tremendous influence on young John Wayne.

Paul Fix ( The Rifleman ) was John Wayne's acting coach from the thirties....he was the one who came up with the idea of John Wayne's distinctive walk...he also wrote the screenplay for Tall in the Saddle...

The famous Orinda Theatre in Orinda, California opened in 1941. Due to its unusual design, displayed in this picture of the cinema lobby, it was saved from demolition in 1984 and reopened five years later
