Hey all,

Looking for some recommendations on scopes. I'm still rather new since I only just got my first rifle about 2 weeks ago (AR15) and I'm going to get another one here in a few more weeks (Remington 700 in .308). So I am looking at some options for some nice optics. These will be primary for plinking at 100-200 yards so I do not need incredible optics to get me out to 1000 yards, but I am willing to spend a decent amount of cash for a good scope.

For my AR I was thinking of getting a Millett 4-16x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescope

And for my Remington 700, a Leupold 4.5-14x40 Mark 4 LRT 30mm Riflescope
http://www.swfa.com/pc-3409-297-leupold-45-14x40-mark-4-lrt-30mm-riflescope.aspx

I was thinking about getting the Millett first and use that on my 700 for a little bit while I saved up for the Leupold and then swap them out. Of course nothing is entierly planed so this can all change too. Big%20Grin Both of the scopes are probably more than I need, but its nice to keep future options open... though living in California only so many places have decent rifle ranges.

Welcome to Optics Talk.

If you are looking for a decent tactical for an AR, this will fit the bill for your designated yardage.

Now for the 700.
or
or
Of course an idea of your budget would be a great starting point.
I will point out that any of these are a better value than the Leupold. Not to say that there's anything wrong with Leupold, just that these will get you more for your money.

Oh yeah, If you can live with a fixed power tactical. You will be very hard pressed to find anything this good for the amount of money spent.

I was looking at probably around $1000 total for both scopes but I can always go more. My main concern is getting my scope for my .308 first. I can put off my AR till Jan with my tax refund.

Fixed or variable I have no preference. As long as I can see where I place the holes I'll be happy.

I have seen a Super Sniper before, friend has one on his Savage .308 and it never seemed quite right to me... but then it was setup for him and not me (that and with crappy reloaded ammo but that is a different story). With the Super Sniper and the Burris Tactical, I'd be in the same price range roughly.... just in the opposite order that I was thinking.
