Yea, I get to test out Mossberg's customer service!!! Wahooo. My freakin luck. I have a Mossberg 4x4 30-06. I went to the range today and the trigger is horrible. It's also 6.5lbs!!!! Can we say around 4lbs please!??!!! And I DO NOT have the LBA adjustable trigger that is suppose to be on every 4x4!! I just emailed Mossberg CS explaining this and we'll see what happens. My shoulder is killing me---that 06 KICKS!!! And I'm pretty used to hard kicking guns....but this one hurts...especially if you've already warm up your shoulder with 20 rounds of .270! I may have to get a pad for her though.

As far as the Vortex Viper (4-12x40), I'm pretty pleased with her. I need a good shoulder and a better trigger before I go back out to get her dialed in. She's on paper now though.

Anyone dealt with Mossberg CS??--Bboy623 Whacko

Well Mossberg emailed me back very quickly and after a few emails back & forth I had to call the 1-800 number to learn that I'm stuck with my rifle. It was made before they came out with the LBA trigger system and as of now they have no retro fit program. Great..again--my luck---Bboy623

Ok, I'm back...calmed down, had supper, and here are my reflections:

The gun is awesome. I like the fit and finish (I have the marinecote on laminate stock), bolt is super smooth, and gun feels solid. I just don't like a 6.5 lb trigger.

I think with my shoulder hurting which was making me flinch throwing some shots around added to my frustrations.

I'm gonna get a recoil pad for this gun and see how things go.

As for Mossberg, I will still have to say that their CS is pretty darn good. Looking back, I had a email reply in like 20 minutes. After I called their 800 number, I was talking to a person in like a minute. Although I didn't get the satisfaction I wanted, I think their response is valid although it sucks. I bought a 4x4 that was made before the LBA trigger and they had no retro-fit program. I think they should and I will probably keep letting them know that a retro-fit program will only enhance their customer service.---Bboy623

Sorry it all didn't work out perfectly, but I think its admirable to have a realistic point of view.

Thanks lucytuma. I felt obligated to admit I jump the gun so to speak in my harshness towards Mossberg. It's only right to man up to your mistake.

I really hope the recoil pad will help. I got her in the red at 100yds....but I want her in teh red at 200!--Bboy623

Sims recoil pad may be in order, also do some "off" the bench shooting just to see how it is.  Even some moderate recoiling rifles can be painful on the bench.
