My neighbor is a "lefty" of sorts (Obama bumper stickers, gung-ho
Socialized medicine, "guns should be banned", etc.).  So this past spring
I put this sign up in my yard after one of his anti-gun rants at a neighborhood
Cocktail party.

The sign wasn't up more than an hour before he called the police and wanted them to make me
Take down the sign.  Fortunately, the officer politely informed him that it was not their job to take
Such action without a court order and that he had to file a complaint "downtown" first, which would
Be reviewed by the city attorney to see if it violated any city, county, or state ordinances, which
If there was a violation a court order would be sent to the offending party (me) to "remove the
Sign in seven days."

After several weeks he was informed that the sign was legal (by a quarter of an inch) and there
Was nothing the city could do, which obviously made him madder.

I tried to smooth things over by inviting him to go shooting with me and my friends at the hunt club but
That seemed to make him even more angry.
I am at a loss how to reconcile our long relationship (notice I did not say friendship), any suggestions
Would be welcome.

Anyway, that's life in our neck of the woods, how about yours?

It should not take very long until some thief obliges your neighbors right to be assaulted. You should hold tight without making the first move. You neighbor will soon recognize his poor judgment. Then plead for forgiveness, for his stupidity. Hold on to your faith.

Libs are libs and they are never responsible for their actions. You on the other hand, are the reason for all that is bad that happens to them.
Rest assured that if some thief, burgalar, or robber takes advantage of their helplessness, then the lib will blame you and not the scoundral that raped them for their woes, and promptly file suit against you for informing the thugs that they are helpless and you won't intervene in their defence after you created the risk.
Why do you think so many trial lawyers are democrats.

Hold your ground buddy!
Wish this had come out long ago. This will be the new banner of our day. We need to do all we can to get these signs up all over the country. When we identify these idiots to be totally void of any common since. The light might come on for alot of this new generation. We'll have to act fast because the left will act quickly to out law these.
And hey, just because your armed doesn't mean you know whats going on in your neighbor's house. You may be criticized after he is hit but, if he's willing to be so vocal about banning guns. What grounds does he have to complain about his opinion being displayed? He is one of those who likes to make alot of noise and then disappear in the crowd. He depends on saftey in numbers. Let the crooks hit somebody elses house, there are so many to choose from.

I heard a report awhile back where are select number of New York citizens were asked "Should firearms be legal and if so should they be registered"? One lady spoke up and said, "I would rather there be no guns allowed for the non service citizen. But if they are going to be allowed then they should be registered so when someone commits a crime then that gun owner can be located and arrested".

I didn't know wether to laugh out loud or pull my hair out. And what is worse the others agreed. And whats worse than that the stupid reporter didn't ask "Why do you think that someone who commits a crime would register a firearm to start with".

Thats the sad mentallity of these people who blindly support gun bans. They don't seem to grasp that only law abiding citizens register guns. They can't seem to comprehend that a crook might actually steal a gun and                *Wait for it*................NOT REGISTER IT!
They are literally the blind being lead to their own doom.

The only issue I have with that sign is that it identifies you house as having guns!  In a thief's eyes that would make your house the more desirable hit.  Just make sure they are properly secured!

I have a sticker on my windows that say "if you are found here tonight, you will be found here tomorrow" with a picture of a gun.....I think if readily identifies my home as having guns.  The sticker sits directly over my security system sticker.  My thoughts are this, yes it makes my home a target if they are looking for guns but deters them from coming in when I'm there for the very reason of me having guns, also deters from when i am no there because of the alarms.

Is it just me, or did anyone else recognize this as a joke with added sarcastic humar from me?
I agree with all the coments above, including my own. You can sue a ham sandwich, but that doesn't mean you'll beat it.
If the story is real, I'm glad I don't live there.
I do find it not so funny that the liberals think the Fist Amendment only applies to their speech.
