They will all be so good it is likely you could never tell a difference.

That is as unanswerable of a question as I can think of.  You need to be far more specific.

That will vary from person to person.

It will also vary depending on what you mean by best glass.

Best image quality?  At all magnifications?

How about tradeoffs?

Let's say scope A has the best image quality at high magnification, but sever tunneling at low magnification, while scope B is not as good at high magnification, but has no tunneling and is still excellent across the magnification range?  Which one of these would you say has the better glass?

How about tradeoff between contrast and resolution?  Which is more important to you?

How about depth of field? where does that rank on your list of priorities?

Then there is a question of specific models.  All of these make more than one model and some are better than others.

Nevertheless, here are some generalizations for you:

- USO is not in the running for best glass.  Great scopes, but image quality is not as good as competition.
- March is likely to have the best resolution of the bunch, but lower contrast
- Premier and S&B will have higher contrast than the rest
- Zeiss FL is in between somewhere

All that, of course, assumes you are looking at similarly configured models.

Yes.  Best image quality across the range of magnifications.

In general, the less tunneling, the better.

Can you clarify the difference between contrast and resolution?  Are you talking about color contrast?  If so, resolution is more important.

Fairly low.  To me, DoF is different than glass quality.

Where does the Swaro Z6 fit in?

Of course...keeping things as close to apples to apples as possible.

Who other than koshkin has even ever got to look through (any model) of all these brands...except maybe the guys @ SWFA? I won't even get into picking a scope for actual use. Sticking to just glass, a couple of other brands: SS (HD, such as the 5-20), Vortex (HD) and IOR.

Personally, I can only vouch for Premier glass being awesome (and noticeably better than NF, which is on par with SS 3-9). I've used Swaro and Zeiss LRFs and both have really nice glass. I had an SS 5-20 and the glass was very good, yet I found the mag range just wasn't what I wanted.

I figure there's probably quite a few.  For example, I know a lot of guides get exposed to a wide variety of premium glass, either through purchases for themselves or through wealthy clients they are guiding.  Now, that doesn't always cross over to tactical lines, but I figure between dealers and wealthy glass connoisseurs, there will be at least a few people who have looked through a subset of the list.

For example, I have a fairly decent collection of "mid-range" glass.  My only "premium" glass is one of the Swaro 5-30's that I picked off the discontinued sale recently.

My mid-range collection is a Nightforce 5.5-20x, an SS 5-20x HD, and an IOR Valdada 6-24x50.  I also have a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 and and the older SS 3-9x50.

I've been mulling exchanging of the mid-range items for another premium scope.

Castlebravo,

My earlier post was meant as an example of variety of factors to consider, by no means is it an exhaustive list of them.

The basic question you asked (i.e. which has the best glas) is ambiguous to the point that there is no answer to it.

You have to provide more specifics of what you are looking for, both in terms of performance criteria and specifications.

That is the most precise answer, certainly.  However, it is not the most actionable one...

I can make an equally compelling argument for Premier being the best.  Or Kahles.
