I bought a Millett scope to use on an air rifle and before mounting
found out it was not airgun / springer rated. I called Bushnell (who
owns Millett) and I can exchange my new Millett 30mm 4-16x56 Gold Buck
(ununsed) for a new Bushnell 3200 5-15x40 Elite tactical and $55.
Honestly I paid only 170 for the Millett, and it looks and feels pretty
nice. The Bushnell seems to go for nearly twice that ($330), but my
actual cost would be $225. They also said they'd do a straight exchange
for the Bushnell Trophy 6-18x40, which is probably a good idea as the
Trophy scope is rated for springers. The best price I can find on that
is around $210, so I make out a little on the deal either way -- but
getting the trophy I have a scope I can use. I haven't read a lot about
Bushnells on these forums except about the 4200.
Which deal would you take? If I take the 3200, I'd probably have to sell it. I can use the Trophy, and it is a pretty even deal, but NOT if it isn't a scope that is decent quality. |

Not arguging, cause I haven't put it to any tests, but it LOOKS awfully nice! I am definitely leaning toward the trophy (and really I make at least $30 on the trade), but I wish the Millett was rated for airguns.

I don't think any of them would be a bad trade, but I think you'd get slightly better glass with the 3200s than the Trophy.
I'd shell out the 55 bucks, myself, and go "Tactical!"
edited to add:
Or did Bushnell advise you that the 3200s are NOT rated for springers?
I thought they were, but if not, go with the Trophy. Edited by RONK - September/09/2009 at 19:37 |

I have had 2, both the same as yours. Both were junk. Although CS is good it does'nt replace a good product. I expect both.

"Or did Bushnell advise you that the 3200s are NOT rated for springers?"
I asked specifically for springer rated scopes and they suggested the Trophy and some Banner scopes. Part of the deal was that they wouldn't refund, so it was a matter of finding something that would fit my need and the cost....regretfully NONE of the 3200, 4200 or 6500 scopes are rated for springers! Trophy was the highest level scope they had they said that were springer rated. |

I'd take any and all trades they offered, Bushnell is being more than generous with these offers.

I have a fantastic idea..... Get that 3200 Tactical for the trade and 55 dollars... Use it for a different gun and get a springer rated scope from SWFA.... The Trophy is a good little scope especially for the price.

yeah, I think it seems not only like they are being fair but that they are helping me out. I have two reasons for posting: one, I don't have experience with the Trophy series so I'm hoping to hear people tell me it is the right way to go. Two, I think it is good for people to know when a manufacturer does right by the buyer. Not all of them do. And mostly people make effort to complain before they praise.
I just wanted to make sure the deal was as good as I thought and that I wasn't missing something. |
