I missed # 37. Largest sea battle? I'm a old 3rd and 7th fleet sailor, I could never miss that one. Battle of Layte Gulf.

I had a zillion war movies on VHS years ago.  I used to sit my girls down ( ages 8 and 10 and up ) and I would show them these movies in historical chronological order.  So, we had fun and ate popcorn and they learned a lot about the Big War while being entertained.

They enjoyed themselves and learned about Pearl Harbor,  Wake Island, Bataan, 30 Seconds over Tokyo, Midway....etc, etc...

Not in the Pacific but also worth watching and sometimes overlooked:

The Dam Busters, A Bridge Too Far, The Heroes of Telemark, Sink The Bismarck

That's a great idea Ed. My biggest problem with WWII was the chronology of the war.
I wonder, if you were showing them "Enemy at the Gates", would you take an intermission half way through the movie to show them "Tora, Tora, Tora"?    Big Grin
