The Weaver is not looking too good but the Vortex looks to be off the charts.

But then again it better be if it is coming in at the rumored $2K.

I have had some corespondence with ATK  Technical Services by on my military e-mail account and provided some feedback regarding concern that the scopes should include certain other features like more internal adjustment.  Here are copies of the reply.  I invited Dale to visit us here on OT and told him we welcome the input of manufacturers like ATK.

Dale Radcliffe

Here is what I have:

4-20 = 50MOA

3-15 = 60MOA

The current mildot scopes are graduated in MOA and the detents are 1/4 MOA. Detent clicks on the adjustment turrets are .25MOA (this  0.26 inches so very nearly 1/4" at 100 yards)

Eye relief is 4in at 4x and 3.9in at 20x

Parallax is 25 yards to infinity.

Thanks,

Dale Radcliffe

Hi Wes,

Just wanted to pass along to you we are coming out with a higher end tactical line of scopes for mid to late season 2010 per a conversation I just had with Tom. I cannot provide you with any details yet on these as this information is unavailable but will have a much broader adjustment range as you are looking for and will be first focal plane. We are also releasing a proprietary mil dot reticle in 1st focal plane.

Thanks,

Dale Radcliffe

I'll probably want to handle a Vortex before I drop $2,000 on one, that market segment is too filled with great stuff now.

Their niche has been putting good gear on the market at a good price; if this new scope is a run for Premier, USO, S&B and - somehow - Hensoldt, I'll buy.  Anything short of that, I'll wait till the price comes down.

I know they are anxiously awaited, interested to see if the hype is justified.
