Your 22-250 is more of a long range .22 caliber than the .223 ever will be. Put the 5.5-16.5 on that, and put your 3.3-10 on your AR.

the only reason i think the ar would be better at longer ranges is because the twist is faster 1-10 as the 22-250 is only 1-14. i could shoot heavyer bullets in the ar? lee

Hmmm, you sure the .22-250 is 1-14?  Thats pretty slow for that gun.  You do make a good point though.

The first M-16's had something like a 1 in 14 twist that was just barely enough to stabilize the the lighter 55 gr. bullets. The bullet tended to tumble as soon as it entered a target, creating some rather nasty and devastating wounds. Since that time I believe the Army is more concerned with being able to defeat body armor and I think they are up to a 1 in 7 twist. This over stability of the new 62 gr. bullets causes the projectile to pass right through the target causing little damage unless vitals are hit. I am pretty sure if you want to shoot the heavier bullets you will want something like a 1 in 8 twist. Or better yet step up to a 6.5 Grendel. Big smile  M223

the 200 to 300 fps per bullet wt. difference between the 2 guns isn't enough to make it a decision for the scope- but rather use a point of use. I prefer the more power ranges in scopes on the AR simply because the gun moves so little it is very easy to follow bullet strikes and utilize this capability of the higher mag. also the lower barrel heat build up of the 223 allows far more shots per string of fire. If your 22.250  is 1-14 and 26 inch. it is possible to push 40 grainers to 4300 fps. which would specialize it even more. the 6.5x20 monarch with target knobs and 1/8 " reticle are very good scopes. I'll bet your ar is a 1x9 which generally shot 69 gr SMK very well
