Hello

I am in search of a new pair of binos. I mostly stand hunt in the southeast between hardwood forest and large field edges. I don't spend a great deal of time glassing but would like decent optics when I do. I don't have a wad of cash to spend and I have to stay around $300 unfortunately. I have looked through the windriver olympics and nikon monarchs (I didn't care for them). I have read good things about pentax and would just like a few opinions between the leupold and pentax.

Thanks for your help.

Between those two, I would choose the Leupold.

Have you looked at the Bushnell Legends?  They generally get really good reviews all around.  My brother has an 8X32 model and has been very satisfied with them.

You also might want to consider a good porro prism.  Bushnell Legends, Windriver Mesas, Pentax PCF WP, Bausch and Lomb Discoverers, Nikon Action Extremes or Tundra ATBs, etc. would all give you superior image quality for less money.

Hopefully this article might help.  Scroll all the way down to the bottom to find the actual reviews.  Excellent site for a reference and reviews.  http://www.birds.cornell.edu/Publications/LivingBird/winter2 005/Age_Binos.html
