Ok, stuck on this one.....beautiful super grade at a steal of a price in my opinion.

Top it off with.....Swaro 3-10x42 with BRH, or Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40....

Now, same question with Zeiss being 470 bucks cheaper....

Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Thanks!

See this discussion:

For the price differential, I would probably go with the Conquest.

AFAIK, the Conquest 3-9x40 is out of production and hard to find. As long as you are thinking Conquest in that power range, might as well look for a 3.5-10x as that model is a bit better than the 3-9 in several regards. It has better eyebox and a more comfortable sight image, due to it's 1/2" shorter eye relief, as well as wider field of view. It's also the most compact and lightweight Conquest and gives better edge- edge resolution than the 3-9. While more expensive, I think the 3.5-10 was the ne plus ultra of the Conquests. I don't think you'd shortchange the rifle, or yourself with that scope, if you could find it.

No, it is a conquest. Have read too much negative regarding the terra models here to go that route. I have to decide by tonight but a tough choice....I've got weaver, Leupold, minox, bushnell, swfa ss....and a few more just never one of these 2 yet.

Hey JLud,
It just occurred to me that you might be talking about the "new" Zeiss Terra 3-9x42 which sells for same price as the older Conquest 3-9x40... the Terra doesn't quite match up to the older and most excellent 3-9x40, but very few scopes do, in that price range.

Hope my earlier screed about the 3.5- 10 doesn't come off as a disparagement against the 3-9x40, as it is a very fine scope and the 3.5-10 is more expensive for the slight improvements mentioned.. There are probably some new ones around somewhere and if you find one, you'd be good to go. I'd not hesitate to buy another.

I reckon Zeiss figured they'd have a harder time selling the new "5" Conquests with the older Conquests still in the picture.

Here she is, the 7x57 with the Conquest.  Sits a bit high even on the low one piece talleys, but pulls up perfect and great balance.

I think it looks just right, not too high at all.  Very nice rifle, very nice set up...

Beautiful combo and looks great.
Save for a German Zeiss. You owe yourself that.
