Fellas I have a leupold  vx3 2.5-8x36 on my pet Ruger m77 in 300wm. The rifle was originally bought to tromp the Rockies for elk so the scope was selected accordingly.
I now use the rifle for whitetail hunting in a box stand scendero scenario to ranges out to about 400yds.
I saw this scope on sample list
I once owned a meopro 3-9 that was a good scope but with out holding both side buy side  and reading news paper it is hard make a decision.
I am looking to have better light transmission ,a little more magnification and a combination that is some what handy (not bulky)weight is not a real concern .
Thanks

Your current scope, the Leupold, is a very good scope IMO.  However, for your current hunting methods I think the Meopta would be better.  Although, unless you don't want a 50mm lens I would look a the MeoPro 4-12x50 for less money than the 3.5-10x44.  Even better light transmission and more magnification.  I am seriously thinking about one myself as some of my hunting is like yours.

Why is the 3.5-10 x44 more expensive than the 4-12x50 somebody?

It does seem odd that a larger objective scope is less money in the same product line .  I am not against paying more if I am getting something more.

Personally I would want a scope in the  4-16 or 5-20 power range when I am talking possible 300 and 400 yd shots because I want to evaluate the rack to decide if I want to shoot that deer.  I really dont think the difference between the Leu you have now and the Meopta you mentioned is great enough change to merit the trouble to remount and sight in the new scope for only two more power above what you have now.  The Vortex Viper might be a good choice for that type use.
