New to this forum but not new to scopes.  I've always used AO scopes at the ranges and varminting trips but starting to take up deer hunting.  Many of the scopes I'm looking at regardless of cost in the 3-9 or 4-12 range are rarely including AO?  Is it considered a waste time and weight on a hunting rig?  Or am I just looking at the wrong scopes?

Thanks in advance guys?

scopes under 12ish to 10ish magnification don't suffer from parallax error as much.  High magnification created more parallax error.  That is why you see it on higher mag scopes.

For most big game hunting distances and the size of the game the error is pretty small.

if you want a good scope for the $$$  try this :

Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 4x16 - 44mm

it has side focus, and is a great scope for the bux...I have one on my 0-6,
and a 6x24-50 one my 20 Vartarg Varmint Rifle...

excellant scopes....new this year from Bushnell they're not popular yet, but they will
be, and they're covered by Bushnell's warrenty....

They're just not necessary. Also if you were messing around and had the parallax set to 50 yards with the scope turned up to 14x it takes to long to fix it while a buck is chasing a doe across a lane 200 yards out. Gotta keep it simple and make the shot happen.

Agreed. P.A. Is a PITA when hunting big game.

OTOH, if one set the parallax at 100 yds and didn't crank the scope higher than say 9x, it might work fine.
