hey,

I'm sure there must be a reason why a manufacturer would put mil dots on an AO scope but I can't think of it.

Can anyone clue me in in this?

Thanks.

Mil dots are used for ranging and can also be used as bullet drop compensating aimpoints.
What would AO have to do with this feature or use?

Well, I just figured if you know your rifle, your ammo and you have an eye for distances that mil dots wouldn't be necessary with an AO scope.

The mildot are used to accurately rage distances. The AO does not allways focus 100% on the distances as given on the AO ring. But you do make a valid point.
Even if you know the distance and how much to hold over, the mil-dots would take some of the guess work out as to how much you are actually holding over.
