My question is why? I like the 3200s I have always been a fan since my
first one. They were affordable, very good optics and all around a good
scope.
I just got one JUST because it was on close out, the scope plus shipping was $150 total (well $148.95 to be exact). I don't need it, but just got it because they will be no more. I am still very FINANCIALLY CHALLENGED I am always of the mind set, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' and especially if it sells! . I have a friend with a Bushnell Legend, he loves that scope, and he has Leupold and Burris scopes too, but they quit the Legend real quick after it was introduced........................WHY? |

There is already a topic regarding the discontinuation of the 3200 and 4200 lines... More than likely, they are cutting those lines to introduce new lines and to close the gap between their lowest end and top end products = more profits and less products that break and less phone calls to customer support (which is CRAP with Bushnell anyway). I bit the bullet and bought a 4200 earlier this year regardless of their customer support, however. For $216 an Elite 4200 just could not be beat.

I have a feeling that the manufacturing cost of the 3200 was probably near identical to the 4200, so they combined the two lines and are able to charge the premium, hence better profits.

My guess is that the magnification race has reduced sales. Seems like the consumers want a 4x or more scope now. The 3-9x40 4200 was the only 3x scope in the line. I believe the 3200 scopes were predominantly 3x. Considering the shift in the market and manufacturing cost it's probably no longer viable. Maybe the new line will have 99% light transmission and be tested at 1 million shots from an H&H mag up hill in the rain.

No one is cutting Elite 3200.
Bushnell merged Elite 4200 and Elite 3200 into a single scope line called Elite. The only optical difference compared to the previous models is an update to better coatings. Aside from that, most configurations will continue as is and you should be able to find your preferred "Elite 3200" model somewhere in the new "Elite" line up. ILya

I guess I'm an oddball here, but I had a 3200 and while I like it, I didn't like it as much as a lot of people online claim to. The one I had was a 10x40 tactical. I liked the adjustments and they seemed accurate. The glass seemed pretty good too, but at that same time comparing it to my Burris FFII on 9x, the Burris seemed to have the edge in class quality. Now maybe it was since it was on 9x compared to 10x, or maybe the Burris is slightly better in the glass department, but since they were in the same price range, I'd prefer the Burris. Had it been $100 cheaper than the Burris, I'd love it, but when they run nearly the same price, that's why I thought the Burris was a better buy.

Where are you finding Elites 3200 and 4200's on closeout? I'm not seeing anything on the SWFA web page.
