Hey all, I'm new here and have a questions on what scope to buy for my AR-15.  My max budget is about 250.  How and why does a scope lose zero once it is set @ 100yds?

Due to the internal adjustment shifting, loose mounts or mounts actually bending or shifting upon impact or recoil a scope can loose zero. A very small movement of half a thou of an inch will shift the zero.
Lesser quality scopes are more prone to internal adjustments shifting.

Some scopes lose zero from just from the vibration inside a hard case while in the trunk of a moving vehicle.I use soft gun cases and never experienced a loss of zero.Proper mounting,If you over tighten the scope too much torque that could effect your scopes zero. You can buy a nice Nikon Primos 3-9x40 or aElite 4200 3-9x40 for $250.
