I checked here in Ga and the only dealer listed for Promaster does not sell binoculars.  I spoke with dealers in surrounding states, but the prices quoted were not even close to $350.Loco

Cental Photo in Paducah KY. I dont know if they do mail order items. I picked mine up at the store. Let me know how it turns out.
I called IL and MO. They give me the same price.

I called Central Photo and they are currently out of 10X42's.  They expect to get some back by next Thursday, but I was told that they would sell for $449.00.  This is my normal luck.  What I really want is the 8X42 model.  Everywhere that I checked, they ran about $50.00 lower than the 10X42's.  My thought pattern was that maybe I could possibly get a pair of 8X42's for around $300.00.  No such luck - the best price that I found is $399.00.  I guess it's time to save up another $100.00 bucks.

Boo Hoo

When I spoke with Central Photo on Friday, the gentleman that answered the phone had to ask another person about the binoculars.  I could hear him speaking to the other person in the background.  I heard him ask the other person the price for the 10X42's.  He said "He is asking about the ten power ones.  Are they $350.00?"  The other person said "No, they will be $449.00."  Guess the $350.00 price was for those in stock - he said that they had sold the last pair and were waiting for some to come in this week.

I tell you what I would do. I would call another supplier located in another state. I called several in MO and IL, at the time I was shopping. They had the same price as Central Photo ($347). The wholesale price may have gone up. You can use the dealer locater on the Promaster site. "A dollar saved is a dollar earned." I am not dedicated to a store if they start running the price up.

Guys, $350,  that's a heck of a price reduction, $200 off of regular price.  I wonder if somebody just fouled up and posted a price in error and was forced to honor with stock on hand.  Or maybe decided to do a special in store blow out sale.  You're talking $100.00 less than the Promaster sale price to those who reviewed them early on.  I looked around some and found nothing outside of the regular prices of $499 for the 8x and $550 for the 10 x.  I think that turnip has bled out.  Even at regular price they are a bargain. If they told geezer $450, I really doubt you will find anything lower.  That's probably what they meant in the first place.

For those who have not heard already, Orion has just entered the competition with the Orion ULX ED 8x42 & 10x42 for under $300.oo.

Now would probably be a good time to pick one up and see what you think.

Orion was supposed to have those as of yesterday.  Now they have pushed their release back another six months.  Who knows why.  They also have only an advertised one year warranty.

Thanks for the info.

Perhaps it's supply and demand.

Unless a person buys Leupold, Nikon, Pentax, etc. the Chinese binoculars ususlly have one or two year warranties.
