I bought new a Scope, that is identical in every way to a Super Sniper 10 X 42mm rear paralax adjustable. It is however marked in white print on the objective bell, "Tasco" and further around it is marked "10 X 42 mm"

It's objective lens is set back inside by about an 1" or better. The factory manual is of course Tasco, but the publication date is 2000.

Is this just old inventory, and is it a predecesor to the Super Sniper of today? Is it just as reliable?

Any input is appreciated.

Who did you buy it from?  Was it represented to be a new Super Sniper?

Note: Tasco did make some for a while but they do not currently make them.  SWFA has the rights to the Super Sniper name and they have greatly improved the quality control.  When SWFA bought the rights to the Super Sniper they got as part of the deal some literature that is marked Tasco but still contained useful information. If you got it from SWFA you don't need to worry about the scope.  If it came from SWFA it is reliable and they will stand behind it.  One thing you won't find at SWFA is "old inventory" of Super Sniper scopes they sell all they can make and lately have sold out several times due to the military buying all they had.
