hi guys,

I am new to this forum and i would first of all say hello to everyone my name is charlie,

i have been reading some of these post and i realize just how much more i have to learn,

I have a remmington 700pdm 308 cal 26' bl,  I am having a hard time trying to figure out what type of scope to buy

i want to spend up to $350 for a scope but if there is one better let's say at $400 then i would'nt mind spending the extra cash

I will be shooting at distances of 100 -to-300 yds, If you guys could give some suggestions it would be very helpful

i see some of you here have plenty of knowledge when it comes to scopes so i will be taking what you suggest very strongly.

thanks again guys looking forward to hearing from you.

                                                    thanks,

                                                         Charlie E.

Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40.....$399 or Bushnell 4200 Elite 3-9X40....$258....... these are two of the best buys available.  Zeiss has more eye relief and a bit better class for low-light, 4200 has Rainguard and a little cheaper.  I highly recommend you find a way to look thru them at the same time under same conditions!  I have a Weaver Grand Slam 3.5-10X50 and like it a lot, I haven't compared it directly to the two above, but think it would be just a notch below them.  Unless something new comes out, my next scope will be one of those.
take em!

For me, it would depend on what I was going to use the scope for.  For Deer hunting, I certainly wouldn't, but for target shooting or varmit hunting, the 6X20 would be great.  I do not own a $800 scope and that's not likely to change anytime soon......... I'd rather go on a Elk hunt or Mulie hunt or a sheep hunt or a........ well you get it.

Again, try to compare that scope to another one that is less expensive.  If you really can't tell the difference or the difference isn't worth the extra $$, it seems foolish to me to spend the extra $$s.

take em!

i agree , i will be compareing alot of scopes and look for the best bang for my buck, i'm not crazy about spending $800 on a scope either.

                                                                                     Thanks,
