Just getting started into benchrest shooting and I have come to the conclusion that the only two scopes that I'm interested into right now is the Nikon Monarch 8-32x50 and the Sightron Siii 8-32x56.
Can't make up my mind which one to concider for the 200 yards that I'll be shooting most of the time...help would be appreciated      thanks      Wm.

I vote for fixed 6x.  In my experience, I got rid of all scopes with power above 20, as I just did not use as usually sight picture or clarity suffered above those levels.

If you were set on those 2, then my vote is for Sightron.

With a 6 power you can't even see the 1 in. center of the target. You can't shoot groups at 200 yards with a 6, we are shooting cast bullets and can group 10 shots into 2 inches easy most of the time, but you need a quality highpower scope and this is the price range that I can go with......schuetzen benchrest!!

Most everyone I've seen who shoots benchrest uses high magnification fixed power scopes. Fewer lenses to reduce light and less to go wrong between shots.

Most use one of these:

Weaver T series 24 or 36x
Sightron S-II Big Sky 24 or 36x
Leupold FX series

For what you want to do, Sightron S3 8-32x56 is the one to beat in the sub-$1k segment.

If this is strictly a target gun and the rules of the competition allow for higher magnification scopes, I see no compelling reason to limit yourself to 6x.

There is a reason why benchrest shooters use high magnification.
