Which scopes will hold up to a Barrett 50 BMG 82A1 semi auto?
I have been leaning towards the super sniper 10X.

For the money, nothing comes close! I have one on a light .300 wsm and no problems! You may also consider the new 3X9 variable S.S.. From what I hear, the glass is better , and it is still super tough. Also there are rumors of a new 10X HD (with Schott glass) coming out soon!

I used to have a 16x Super Sniper.  I have a good friend that has a 10x SS that I like much better.  That being said I just bought a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x Tactical for my 50 BMG.  We should have both our rifles out next weekend so we can compare, but based on looking through his previously and my 3200, they are pretty close and one is half the price of the other.  Optically I think they are pretty much equal at distance, but at closer ranges the SS is easier to focus and its difficult to get a really crisp focus at 100yd or under on the Bushnell.  They both have nice knobs and lots of elevation, although the click feel on the SS is better and it does have more travel.  With my 200yd zero I think I can reach out to ~1950yds with 3200 on my 30moa base and ~2050yds with the SS.  Warrantys are the same, both lifetime and waranty work is done by Bushnell on both, both made in Japan.  SS is a little better scope for double the price.  I like the SS but not sure on value anymore, there is a lot of stuff in the range inbetween the 3200 I bought and them, like a Mueller TacII that is 3-10 that is variable and has FAR superior glass but turret are lower profile, and several Millett scopes.

SS 10x glass had gone through a redesign 2-3 years ago.  How old is your SS?

Mueller Tac II glass is not better than that of recent production Super Sniper.

As for the Bushnell 10x40, it is adecent scope for the money, but if you can strethc your budget to $300, I would definitely go with a 10x42 SS.

Mine was probably ~3 yrs old now and it was a 16x (I bought it used and sold it after my falcon 4-14 came in).  My friends that I shoot with was purchased this year, 2009, and assumed it was nicer b/c of 10x but sounds like glass may be better also from what you posted.  I look at them in future shooting side by side, but the 3200 glass appears at first impression to be close to the equal.  Its hard to not to compaire the scopes, both 10x with similar good feature and waranty.

I really like my 10x42HD on my Barrett. I highly recommend the HD  version. I have no problems going to 1000 yards and getting 10" groups. I know when I get used to it I may get better groups. It was sent back to BArrett to have the trigger reduced to 3 lbs and the trigger  transfer bar polished.

I know people don't like them but the Swaro made a 10x that was decent. It had the 1022 reticle.
