I have a few sets of rings laying around, but I dont know if I could trust a set of aluminum Cabelas rings for a .300 Win Mag.

I've used Burris signature series rings before, their OK, but in all honesty, not as great as I had expected them to be.

Any suggestions?

It will be going on a Savage 110, and the scope is a Monarch UCC 5.5-16.5X44 BDC

I prefer the vertically split, all steel, Talley rings. I have them in 1" and 30mm, both detachable and fixed, on several rifles. I have never had a problem with re-zero or movement in the bases. The quality of the machine work is top notch.

The S&K is a very good looking mount as is the Conetrol if you prefer that type. Both are as sleek as anything on the market. I haven't used the S&K, but the machining of the dovetails on the Conetrol is so close you would think they were a one piece wrap around like the S&K.

My problem really wasnt the rings, so I guess I cant bash the Burris rings ... Really I had a set of Weaver bases that seem to be the problem.  One was slightly wider than the other, and the way the Burris rings clamp, it had my scope so croocked that you could literally look down on the rifle and tell it wasnt true to the bore.  I switched them around, and got them to work with the bases I had, but it just pissed me off since it wasnt a problem with the old el-cheapo rings that came with the gun ...

Maybe I should give them another try though cause other than that, they seem great.

When you used yours, you didnt use the epoxy like the ring-directions say you can use on hard recoiling magnums did you?  Kinda scares me putting and kind of epoxy on a quality set of rings and scope.

I had a problem with Burris rings for Weaver bases once and the problem sounds similar to yours, though it wasn't the bases. The Burris ring is not as wide (cross section) as the Weaver ring. On my hard kicker both rings actually tipped. I didn't notice this until my groups were looking like a shotgun pattern.

I think the Burris mounts would be just fine if of the Redfield/Leupold type.
