Hello and thanks for the info. I am getting ready to mount up a Khales 3.5x10 50mm on a Sendero 25-06 and am looking for suggestions on rings and bases.
What advantages are there in using a one piece Picatiny style base versus a two oiece set up? I here good things about Warne, and Burris Signature rings. Other forums have mentioned Farrell, Badger, and Tactical precesion bases and rings, but my goodness they are $$$$$. Weight is not a real issue as this rig ill be sude in ground blinds and tree stands ofr our lease out in western Oklahoma. Lastly, would you reccomend havingthe rings lapped? Sincerely, OUrabmen |

A one piece picatinny rail will allow for more mounting surface, and the option of more MOA (can be built in to it). It will also cover up the action. Not really a problem, but can be an eye sore to some people. If it's just being used for hunting you don't really need the expensive tactical bases. A Dual Dovetail setup would serve your hunting needs and would be all you need. Even a set of Leupold standard bases and rings would be sufficient. If you plan on doing long range work or plan on putting the rig through abuse. The one piece picatinny rail would then be nice to have.
Never hurts to get the rings lapped.
look at IOR for some inexpensive tactical bases and rings. |
