I am looking for a high end compact scope and have narrowed the field down to the following four choices;

Kahles Helia CSX 1.1-4x24

Schmidt & Bender Zenith 1.1-4x24

Swarovski Z6 1-6x24

Zeiss Classic Diavari 1.1-4x24

I would like some opinions on which one you think would be the best (or worst?) choice and why.

The scope will be a multi-role optic and see various duties on different rifles ranging from .22LR (small game) to 375 H&H (dangerous game) and possibly some action shooting (AR-15).

Thanks for your input,

Randy

849400 Weaver 1-3x20 Classic V3 Series Rifle Scope Weaver 1-3x20 Classic V3 Series Rifle Scope

Now lets be realistic the optic needs to match what you plan to do with the rifle - you are asking for one scope fits all perfectly on 22   223  and 375 H&H and then selecting the most expensive optics available. How about we be more realistic and put say a weaver 2-10x38 on the .22 for $159.95 then for your AR-15 lets put an EOTech on it if you use it under 200 yds primarily or if its a shooting range queen lets do this:

426245T Bushnell 6-24x50 Elite 4200 30mm Rifle Scope Bushnell 6-24x50 Elite 4200 30mm Rifle Scope
  • Matte
  • Mil-Dot
  • 30mm
  • Rainguard
  • Side Focus
SWFA: $569.95

Should be a fun scope on the range or get a Super Sniper for it 10x if you use it for hunting 16x or 20x for range only. Now the tough gun the .375 H&H this is a dangerous game gun and should be treated as such if there is even the remote chance you will hunt critters that eat people. I say an aimpoint preferably the comp M4 and I know that is not the traditional optic you were thinking but think Cape Buffalo better yet a wounded one in high grass at under 50 yds with no time to adjust a scope - now think aimpoint it makes more sense.

I posted a question several weeks ago concerning the Weaver V series, and there dependibility.  Do you have any experience with these scopes or thoughts on dependability?

One other thought Urimaginaryfrnd , any input on the differences between the K series and the V series in dependibility, glass, etc?

Weaver optics has been purchased by meade instruments, some report good customer relations and others post horror stories. They used to be made in japan but recent reports indicate they are relocating/relocated in china. They also own simmons and redfield (not redfield USA). Used to be very good optics for the dollar spent but, meade has a reputation of poor customer service and if they've changed manufacturers the product may or may not still be the same.

As for your short list of scopes.....I'd choose the swaro z6.
