So far I have found that the Swift 828 HHS 8.5x44 binocs have 19mm eye relief, and the Pentax DCF SP 8x43 have 22mm eye relief.

Any others out there that have even more than that?

If I recall correctly, the Fujinon 7x50 FMT-versions (basic, R, and RC) are advertised at 23 mm eye-relief.

I don't know of any that are longer.

You are correct- still, those are like Marine binocs - big, heavy, etc.  I think the extra 2mm and the extra $150 in price may not justify themselves.

Extra $150 in price?I think you can find the Fujinon's for less money than Pentax on Ebay.  I also think that Fujinon porros are better glass than Pentax DCF SP.

What do you think is a fair price for the Fujinons?

Fair price?  Not sure really.  I'd think that if you can find them for $350 range you've got a really good deal.  I've been more interested in the 8x30 version though and I've been looking for a good deal on that.  The 7x50 version is too similar to the IORs that I have.

I've found some of the Pentax 8x42 SPs for about $415 shipped.  I ran the Optics4Birding scorecard (neat little feature) and it keeps blowing away all the others (Swift, Audobon, Alpen, Nikon, Burris, even the Swaro and Zeiss) mostly due to features, eye relief, etc.

Did you actually find that scorecard feature useful?

I've looked at it and the only conclusion I could come up with was that the people that run that website have different priorities with respect to optics than I do (and different impression from looking at various glass also).  Try to run that scorecard comparison on a few models that you have personal experience with and see if it agrees with your impressions.

Good idea.  I think it is a helpful tool to get you close to what you might want, but nothing helps better than real life experience.  Problem is in my area it is hard to find anyone with a really good selection of the optics I am looking for.
