If you reciever was drilled and squared properly then the dual dovetail will be the way to go.

Take a good look at the Thompson Factory bases and rings.  There is none better. They are on a Weaver / Picatinny platform.

I think the dual dovetail is one of the strongest mounting systems used for hunting rifles. I also like an all steel weaver style setup. On a muzzleloader I would go with a detachable weaver style setup.

I would go with the Dual Dovetail as well. I have not had any problems with the one I have had. They are stong and dependable.........

I went with a Dual Dovetail setup on my 7mm STW, but I prefer a Weaver detachable setup for my .50 cal muzzleloader. Just makes cleaning a lot easier with the scope off the rifle. For centerfire hunting rifles the Dual Dovetail is the way to go.

The more screws you have, the more chances you have to re-adjust what you just adjusted... You really want something solid....  There is a reason Thompson chose the set up they use, It Is Solid!!
