I have a model 7 ss/syn in a 7mm saum.I shoot 140 grain accubonds in it.Most of the places I hunt are 100 to 150 yard range shots.I practice in my backyard and can only get a 50 yard shot. When I shoot at 50 yards it is a tight group but I am shooting about a 1/2 inch high.Where do you think that would put me at 100 yards?

thanks

It will be just barely lower, (about .2") if you leave it the way it is you will compensate for the drop at 150yds without shooting too high at 100. at 150 the drop would be around 1" lower than the point of impact at 50. So it is probably zeroed at 130yds.

Hammer,

if S.A.U.M. is short for Short Action Ultra Mag.  than your really losing performance. Now, your Zeroed at about 165 yards. You should set your sites to shoot  1.34 inches high at fifty yards to give you a 250 yard zero and a point blank range out to 296 yards.  If your using the rifle for deer, any range from zero to 296 will give you a hit in the kill zone with that set up.  Not accounting for wind drift.

Do a search for a ballistics calculator and check it yourself. some of them let you adjust the load to match your handloads even.

I would hope it would be a tight group at 50 yds thats pistol distance.  To fully enjoy the wonderful rifle you have you need to get out on at least a 100 to 200 yd range hopefully farther occasionally.
