I'm an optics noob and could use y'alls help.  I recently bought a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10x44 with a mildot reticle.  I've never had a scope with a mildot reticle, and don't really think that I need one, but the price on the scope was too good to pass up.  Anyways, I would like to put this on my 270 (Ruger M77) as it would be a huge upgrade over the glass I currently have on this rifle.  Primary use would be hunting Hill Country whitetails at a range of 100-200 yards.  I had my old Bushnell sighted in 2" high at 100-yards, but I've done a bit of reading and it sounds like most people recommend sighting in a mildot reticle dead on at 100 yards.  So what would y'all recomend for me and my 270?

Welcome to The OT!!

I prefer a 100 yard zero on my scope.

Work your "dope" off of a 100 yard zero.

The Monarchs a good scope by the way.
