Just wondering if your dealings with the custom shop have been good or bad ?

My one experience is still ongoing , and I'm not very pleased.
I traded for a 4x14 conquest with the hunter dials. I wanted to have a target elevation dial installed on it. I called Zeiss to get the price and work out the details, but at no time did they tell me they were out of the target dials. I was told turn around time should be around 2 weeks.

After 1 month I call to check whats going on with my scope. I'm told they are out of the target dials , and are waiting on them to arrive from Germany. I'm told they should be in shortly. I call again after 7 weeks same story ; am told they are supposed to be in by the end of the week. It's been 8 weeks now since I sent them my scope. I have not seen my scope or received any contact from them on the matter. This is ridiculous and might well be my one and last dealings with Zeiss.

Stick it out...

They are super super super slow even if it is in stock...

I had sent them 2 scopes over the last 2 years and they averaged 6 weeks one was 5 the other was 7 they did great work...

Slow is one thing , but 2 months and counting is unacceptable in my book.

Dealing with Zeiss USA is unknown to me.  But when I sent stuff to Zeiss when I lived in Germany, I got all my stuff back in two weeks. But they did charge!  I dropped my 7x 50 bino in a deep puddle (I didn't check my carry strap) and they had to do a total dissemble to clean it it in there.

Now to defend the Zeiss USA.  Germans do not change their scopes as us Americans do.  I am surprised you 'can' get the target knobs installed in the first place.  Most German hunters (not hobby shooters) don't even adjust the scopes them selves anyway.  So maybe the bosses in Germany do not let Zeiss USA keep a large number of certan parts in stock.  In Germany when the big-money guys buy their rigs, the gunsmith usually zeros the scope, and for the prices they should!

I am sure if you politely ask to talk to a supervisor or higher, you can get some sort of compensation for your time.  Or contact the Zeiss people in Germany (the German site has English too)on their web page.

I sent a scope in to Zeiss and it took 8 weeks to get the scope returned to me.  They fixed the scope and it didn't cost me anything.  Granted, it did take quite a while to get the scope back, but they did have to send it to Germany.  I guess if I was in a hurry to get it back it would be another thing, but I was happy with the results of Zeiss customer service.
