Looking to upgrade my scope on my Sako 85 270win. My budget is up to about $1500.00 maybe a little more depending on what it really gets me and when I'm spending this kind of money I really want to make the right choice here. Leupold, Ziess, Vortex, or NF? Will be use it for deer and moose hunting. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

That's a nice budget.  Unless you just have to spend all of it, I'm thrilled to death with my 4.5-14x50 Conquest with hunting turrets.  It has the #4 reticle, which is great for low light, as I'm sure you know, but it's narrower at the cross-hair than some others between the thick posts.  Excellent all around for less than $1000.  Plus, I got mine from Sample List at SWFA and only paid $700.  Good luck.

I use mostly Nikon Monarch Golds [ 30 mm ] because one of my friends is a Nikon rep and I get them at his sample price which is well below distributor. If I was looking for something else it would probably be NF. I've been to the PA. World 1000 shoot a couple times [ as a spectator ] and I've seen a pile of NF's on the line. They are getting a lot of good press.

+1,  Thats what I narrowed my search down to and after thinking about rings and mounting setup went with the 1" Swaro vs the 30mm Leica

+ 1 for the Leica.

The other comsideration you might think about would be the BDC reticle or ballistic turret system.
