I am mounting a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 on Remington 700 LVSF in 221 Fireball and was thinking of using the Talley Lightweight mounts.  These seem to be highly recommended and seem like a nice fit for the light weight rifle.  Do you think these are the best choice or should I go with the standard Talleys? Any other recommendations?  With the Talley LW's would I need the extended mounts or just the standard mounts?

Thanks

I'd go with the LW's.  E-mail Talley with the info you've posted here and they'll tell you exactly which ones you'll need.

The LWs low standard should do the job for you.  I use these on all my Remingtons.

I have several of the LW and they are great, never had a scope slip yet.

I like the LW's as well, but then, I like all of Talley's mounts.  It's hard to beat the value of the LW's, even though I like the appearance of their permanent steel mounts better.  Strength-wise, the LW's should be every bit as strong as their steel mounts, since there are no separate rings and bases.  They are extruded then machined as one integral unit.

Thanks guys.  I think I am going to go with the LW's for the value and weight.  I am sure I won't be disappointed.
