I'm just curious what the next "level" would be. I have the green dot 2.5x10x56 and I love it, but what scopes would be the next level up in terms of low light clarity? Scope would be used under 150 yards to identify deer that come out under low light. I would also like illumination. What would be the cost? Thanks to all for your input!

It would be exceedingly difficult to get something that performs better in low light. Honestly, if you need better low light performance than the 2.5-10 offers (at 2.5 in low light), night vision is the next stop. I run some really good glass, and that scope is among the very best in that class. You could jump up to some top tier glass, and it would do things in normal light that your accupoint will not; however, for low light, what you have is about as good as it gets without going NV. |

I looked at plenty of glass and I did the requisite research. The Trijicon 2.5-10x56 is the best glass I could find for the buck specifically for low light situations like dawn or dusk. I can't tell you how many times this optic extened my hunting period to the limits. The only drawback is that this thing is heavy and long. It's best suited for blinds in my opinion and I've taken deer at 225 yds in low light no problem. I have the amber chevron because at distances I am hunting I want rapid sight acquisition and not hold overs. The dot for me was not as good for rapid sight acquisition in very low light. I zero at 50 with my 308 using 168g AMAX and the drop at 200 is 0.9 inches only. At 250yds it falls to -4.4 inches which is still acceptable. I just aim higher on the shoulder. I agree with Rancid. Next step is IR DEFENSE. I don't have the $$$ yet but I've had excellent results on hogs using green LEDs. |

I like the Accupoint also. Anything else is going to be battery powered. There are scopes like Swarovski that have even better glass but lots more money and in a hunting optic at those distances you should be ok.
